I will be sharing this journey with you from the 23rd June to 1st July 2018 but firstly a little about Hair Aid:
Hair Aid Inc. is an Australian not for profit organisation that sends teams of hairdressers to poverty stricken areas to work directly with people in need, to teach them hair cutting skills. We work with the poorest of the families so they can learn the skills required to increase their livelihood, which allows them to earn money to feed, clothe and house themselves and their children. Our work is generally focused on street dwellers and in slum communities, but we also work with migrant groups and indigenous people.
The success of Hair Aid (Manilla) has seen over 1,500 people trained in haircutting skills. Hair Aid has now expanded to include this training in Australia. Hair Aid Inc. (Australia) is a continuation of the Hair Aid (Manilla) project transferred into Australian communities. The training is delivered to rural and remote locations for long term unemployed, homeless, minority groups (indigenous, migrants, domestic violence sufferers, women in harm) and new migrants in Australia.
MAKING IT HAPPEN
Hair Cutting training programs are known as Livelihood Empowerment Programs. The work Hair Aid does, provides homeless and economically disadvantaged individuals with a hand-up to achieve and maintain self-sufficiency. Hair Aid Inc. benefits participants by offering a free five-day Livelihood Empowerment Program based around learning hair cutting skills. By engaging and participating in a training program, participants are empowered to create a brighter future for themselves and their families.
Stay Tuned for updates and I will also be hosting a fundraiser on the 16th of July to also raise money to assist us in getting to the projects … for tickets to the Hi Tea click HERE….
